How a solar system works

Hover over the image below for the key features of a solar system.

1

Solar panels

Solar panels are mounted on the roof. Sunlight hits solar cells, where its energy is converted into DC electrical energy.

2

Inverter

The inverter converts solar generated DC electricity into AC that can be used in the household. The inverter also monitors your solar system to ensure it performs at its best.

3

Switchboard

Energy flows through your home’s switchboard and is distributed to your appliances accordingly.

4

Demand

The energy your solar system produces will always be used first. If you produce more than you need, surplus is sold back to the grid automatically.

5

Energy Storage

A solar system can be expanded with a battery. Batteries store surplus energy to be used at night or through power cuts.

6

Monitoring

Your solar system can come with on line monitoring software so you can use an app or web to monitor your production and usage in real-time.

Your road to solar

Hover over the image below to discover the simple steps on your solar journey.

1

Contact us

Call or email our friendly team for an initial chat. We’ll ask a few questions and when you’re ready to book a time to survey your home.

2

Survey

One of our solar experts will visit your property to discuss any specific requirements. We’ll look at property characteristics like size, aspect and backup requirements, then complete comprehensive modelling to ensure we optimise the design of your system.

3

Proposal

Working collaboratively with you, we’ll design and quote a system engineered towards your specific needs. In around one week from your survey, we’ll provide you with a tailored solar proposal containing all the information you need to make an informed choice.

4

Proposal Acceptance

Once you’ve decided to go ahead, accept the proposal through the original quote link provided.

5

Paperwork

We will apply for your Distributed Network approval (DNSP) for your chosen system size. We will also set up any rebates or interest free loans (if applicable). This approval process can take up to 6 weeks.

6

Installation

Most domestic solar installations are installed in one to two days. Customers will lose power for up to 60 minutes, however our friendly installers will work closely with you as to when this will be.

7

Inspection

All solar systems must be independently inspected. We will arrange a licenced electrical inspector to sign off your installation, provide a Certificate of Electrical Safety and turn your system on. This process can take up to 2 weeks.

8

Meter Alteration

Now that you are producing solar, we will notify your electricity retailer and network distributor of your recent installation. It can take up to 6 weeks for your meter change to take place.

9

Warranty

We don’t leave you there. Each installation comes with a ten year workmanship warranty and we continue to offer full technical support for the lifetime of the system.

We only partner with leading solar brands

We have built strong relationships with some of the best brands on the mark.
This ensures our clients receive not only the best performing products, but also continued support in the unlikely scenario where they have an issue with their solar installation.
